Approaching the lagoon at night is a very special experience.
First the Faro di Punta Sabbione, then the impressive MOSE flood barrier and, last but not least, the dolphin row in the lagoon, which is very well equipped with red and green flashing lights, are quite something in themselves.
But the absolute highlight is a lap of honour directly in front of St Mark's Square. Even though it is 0300 in the morning, there is still a lot of boat traffic here at this time of day. Then it's off to the Sant Elena marina.
