Don’t worry – my Dragonfly 28 Sport is doing just fine. In fact, she’s currently sailing the Adriatic with wonderful guests from Switzerland. After completing an intensive trimaran training, they are now enjoying almost two weeks of bareboat charter, exploring the coastline on their own.
Meanwhile, I’ve taken the opportunity to switch perspectives for a few days. Instead of sailing my sporty trimaran, I’m currently on board the DCS Amethyst 1, enjoying a beautiful river cruise on the Danube from Grein to Passau.
After the Captain’s Cocktail reception, we were treated to an excellent gala dinner. Later, after passing several locks, we continued our journey through the full moon night in remarkably calm conditions, passing my hometown of Linz on our way to the beautiful baroque city of Passau.
Although a high-performance trimaran and an elegant river cruise ship couldn’t be more different, they share the same passion for life on the water, professional seamanship, and unforgettable travel experiences.
A heartfelt thank you to DCS Touristik for the invitation and this wonderful experience. Everyone on board—from the Captain and Cruise Director Jerry to the entire service crew and the nautical team—created such a professional, relaxed, and welcoming atmosphere. I truly enjoyed every moment.
One thing is certain: Once a seaman, always a seaman. ⚓🌙
