Portopiccolo divides opinion. Some people say it’s not a “real” Italian village because it was built from scratch.
Maybe that’s true.
But here’s the thing: when the evening sun paints the streets in golden light, children are playing in the square, people are laughing, glasses are clinking, and the aroma of freshly baked pizza fills the air… it suddenly doesn’t matter anymore.
You can’t build atmosphere with concrete. Atmosphere is created by people. And this place has plenty of them.
After a long and exhausting journey, I’m treating myself to a perfect pizza at Oro di Napoli. Add a glass of chilled white wine, and life feels pretty close to perfect.
Tomorrow it’s cast off! Four days of sailing along the beautiful Istrian coast are waiting for us. I can’t wait to get back on the water. ⛵😎
